    Leads marketing and communications programs by partnering with key executives, customers and agency partners to establish a strategic direction that is aligned with the overall UL Enterprise. Directs the entire marketing communications campaign, including strategy development/planning, identification of insights, selection of most effective vehicles (including newer social media tools), budget management and research/metrics. Oversees day-to-day relationship with selected advertising agencies and/or agency partners. Provides marketing advice and guidance to the organization to ensure overall marketing effectiveness and drives efforts to position UL as the visionary leader and trusted partner with its current and prospective customers.


    This role has accountability for leading and coordinating all marketing efforts for International Region (all markets outside of North America). The ability to work effectively in a matrix organization is critical. The International Marketing Director will report to the Vice President of Operational Marketing. They will work closely with the sub-regional GMs/VPs in the region, as well as the General Managers and BU leaders across all Business Units, and will be directly accountable to the President International Region.


    • Responsible for defining and delivering corporate marketing campaigns including strategy development/planning, identification of insights, selection of the most effective vehicles, budget management and research/metrics.
    • Develops the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve goals and objectives. Develops and tracks metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs and activities.
    • Directs marketing team to ensure the implementation of effective corporate marketing campaigns, including but not limited to print, digital and web based campaigns.
    • Works closely with key internal and external stakeholders to develop marketing and advertising strategic direction. Oversees day-to-day relationship with selected advertising agencies to drive corporate marketing campaigns and plans.
    • Will coordinate marketing efforts with the business unit marketers in the region and will be responsible for integration efforts.
    • Responsible for tradeshows and events across the region.
    • Educates team on new social media tools (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and effectively leverages them to create a dialogue with target audience.
    • Partners with UL’s Corporate Marketing teams to create interdisciplinary synergies and alignment.
    • Partners with UL’s Marketing Analytics and Demand Operations teams to develop campaign effectiveness and ROI models.
    • Will convene a regional marketing council to coordinate BU activities with the corporate marketing council
    • Works with related industry and business unit General Managers to maximize Business to Business value of corporate marketing campaigns.
    • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
    • Public Relations will be a significant part of the role as we work to build awareness and relevance of the UL brand.
    • Performs other duties as directed.


    • Degree holder majoring in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related discipline plus at least ten years of experience in professional marketing with program managing marketing strategies and advertising campaigns. Masters in Business or Advertising preferred;
    • Solid experience in lead generation and marketing automation preferred;
    • Strategic Management experience with oversight of creative marketing personnel;
    • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and time-management skills;
    • Culturally sensitive with strong business acumen and is able to work in a matrix environment.
